What tide is best for surfing Parlementia?
Parlementia works on all tides, as the depth over the reef changes very little. On the rising tide, the outside wave and the inside wave link up into one long line that runs all the way in.
What swell and wind suit Parlementia?
You need a west to north-west swell and an easterly to east-south-easterly, offshore wind. When it’s working, expect a crowd at the peak.
Is Parlementia a right or a left?
First and foremost a long reef right, but the peak also throws a shorter, faster left. It’s often compared to Sunset, in Hawaii.
Why is Parlementia bigger than it looks?
The peak breaks a long way out, so from the beach it’s easy to underestimate its size: out in the line-up, the waves are often much bigger. If you see surfers out on guns, don’t paddle out unless you know how to handle those conditions.
Is there localism at Parlementia?
Parlementia has its regulars, and the locals aren’t thrilled about the wave’s newfound fame: respect priority and your place in the line-up. The peak can get very busy when it’s on, longboards and SUPs included.
