Le Furoncle: your questions answered

How often does Le Furoncle work?

Hardly ever: it only wakes up a few days a year, mostly in winter, when a big west to north-west swell lines up with an east to south-easterly wind. If those conditions aren’t there, don’t bother with the walk.

What level do you need for Le Furoncle?

Advanced surfers only: the left is fairly hollow, the bottom is a mix of sand and rock and the rip currents are strong. Bring a shortboard or a gun.

Where is Le Furoncle?

At the mouth of the Adour, further north than La Barre beach, on the estuary side, facing the groyne. You get there on foot from La Barre.
