Les Alcyons: your questions answered

What kind of wave is Les Alcyons?

A fast, hollow left breaking over a rock reef, opposite the jetty it’s named after, about 200 metres south of Parlementia. Short but powerful, it’s no place for beginners.

What tide is best for surfing Les Alcyons?

Mid to high tide, preferably on the rising tide. At low tide the reef is shallow and the currents strong, and the spot becomes downright dangerous.

What swell and wind suit Les Alcyons?

You need a solid west to north-west swell and an easterly to south-easterly, offshore wind. Winter is when the spot delivers its best sessions.

Does Les Alcyons get crowded?

There’s only one peak, so the line-up quickly gets competitive, with long waits between sets when it’s busy. Get a good read on the rocks and currents before you paddle out.
