Marinella: your questions answered
Is Marinella good for beginners?
It’s THE beginner spot in Anglet: two surf schools on the beach and lifeguards over a long season. In small swell, it’s the ideal place for a first lesson.
What happens at Marinella when the swell picks up?
It closes out quickly as soon as the swell builds, so it’s not the place to go on big days. In winter, though, it can produce fast, hollow rights for more seasoned surfers.
Where are the best peaks at Marinella?
The peaks move with the sandbanks and there are more of them towards the jetty. The spot is fickle, so have a look from the car park before you get changed.
What conditions are best for surfing Marinella?
A west to north-west swell with an offshore easterly wind: that’s when the waves get hollow. It’s often a little less crowded than neighbouring Les Sables d’Or.
