L'Océan: your questions answered
What tide is best for surfing L’Océan?
Around mid tide: the spot isn’t as good at high tide. When the banks are in the right place, it throws up good rights and lefts.
Is L’Océan a good spot to improve?
Yes, it’s a reliable beach break and a good place to sharpen your skills, often less crowded than the beaches in the south of Anglet. When the swell picks up, though, you can soon get a good shaking.
What swell works at L’Océan?
A west to north-west swell with an offshore easterly wind. The beach break runs on to Les Dunes, just to the north: depending on the banks, the best peak can be on either side.
