Le Club: your questions answered
What tide is best for surfing Le Club?
Mid tide, when the spot tucked between its two jetties works most often and can throw up barrels. At high tide the shore break keeps bodyboarders happy, but the backwash spoils the rights.
What level do you need for Le Club?
In small swell anyone can have a go, but beginners should steer clear once it gets big. On the big days it’s all powerful, hollow lefts, strictly for good surfers.
Why is Le Club so crowded?
It’s home to the Anglet Surf Club, based right on the beach, and its waves are among the most sought-after in Anglet. There are lots of sharp locals in the water, so respect the priority rules: localism can be felt here.
What conditions are best for surfing Le Club?
A west to north-west swell with an offshore east to south-easterly wind. The rights form off the ends of the jetties.
