Les Dunes: your questions answered

Are Les Dunes and L’Océan the same spot?

Pretty much: the two beaches share the same beach break, and a session that starts at Les Dunes can easily end up at L’Océan. The peaks move with the sand, so check where it’s breaking best on the day.

Is it less crowded at Les Dunes?

Yes, it’s one of Anglet’s best bets for escaping the crowds: the beach is less well known and a bit harder to get to than its neighbours. Some of the peaks even barrel.

What conditions are best for surfing Les Dunes?

A west to north-west swell coming in straight on, ideally long-period, with an offshore east to south-easterly wind. According to surf-forecast, autumn is the best season.
